Charming Coaching Inn located in Eskdale, close to Wasdale, Miterdale and Muncaster in the Lake District National Park
Nestled between Mitredale and Muncaster Fell, The Bower House Inn is a charming coaching inn dating back to 1751. For over 250 years, The Inn has welcomed guests who have travelled to Eskdale to sample the delights of one of the most beautiful areas of the Lake District.
Close to Scafell Pike – England’s highest mountain. And Wastwater – England’s deepest lake, also boasting England’s smallest church. The Bower House is ideally situated to take full advantage of these stunning surroundings.

We offer a choice of 20 bedrooms split between the main building and the Barn. All rooms are en-suite with flatscreen TV, hospitality tray, hairdryer and free WiFi internet.
Room types include: Singles, twins, doubles and a family room.
Our restaurant and bar offers lovely home cooked food and a wide range of local ales. We are proud to source ingredients from local suppliers, accompanied by vegetables and herbs grown in our own garden wherever possible. Lunches are served everyday (except Monday and Tuesday), and in the evening our dinner menu can be enjoyed either in our restaurant, bar or garden room.
We have a choice of dining areas available including our bar, dining room, bright and airy garden room. On warm summer day you can relax with a drink or enjoy a meail in our beautiful garden which offer lovely views of Muncaster Fell. In Winter you can enjoy the warmth of our roaring fire in the bar.
Our breakfasts are well known for being hearty and just what is required before a day on the fells or cycling the next stage.

We are located in Eskdale, close to Wasdale, Miterdale and Muncaster Fell in the fabulous Lake District National Park. Wastwater (England's deepest lake) is less than 5 miles away and Scafell Pike (England's highest mountain) is just 8 miles away. We are only 6 miles away from a lovely sandy beach and dunes.
